Advertisement. Yep! Animals and mobs in Minecraft have a habit of disappearing when you’re not looking – as exemplified in the sad story above. But a named creature won’t despawn except in a handful of unusual circumstances. For example, you can name a hostile mob but it’ll still vanish if you set the difficulty to “peaceful”.
i need a zombie for an iron golem farm that I've set up within my spawn chunks. Do I need to use a name tag on it in order for it to not despawn, or is the fact that the zombie is in a spawn chunk allow it to not despawn? This thread is archived. Name Tags are tools used to rename mobs for visual, mental, or despawn-prevention purposes. To rename a mob, the player must go up to a named or unnamed mob while holding the named Name Tag. Name Tags must be named in order to work. To name a Name Tag, the player must use five (5) levels in an anvil and rename it there.
Solved. So I had some name tagged villagers in a trading hall on a realm and they were in a trading center sealed off from the outside with enough light to prevent mob spawning and yet after a week or so most of the villagers are just gone. Anyone know how to prevent this?
Snabbkebab. • 5 mo. ago. Nope, villagers doesnt despawn unless you walk away as they are converting to a zombie, then it happens that they despawn. They will not be able to breed and make more villagers as the rule is: Amount of villagers + 1 beds to make a baby. oliv_iaxm.
